HSA/FSA eligible expenses

In general, individuals who participate in Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Reimbursement Arrangements, and other consumer-directed healthcare spending accounts (together "HSA/FSA(s)") can use their HSA/FSA funds on expenses for "medical care." Medical care includes expenses for products or services that diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, or prevent disease, or affect any structure or function of the body.

Truemed's services involve connecting you with a licensed clinician who will evaluate whether a product or service is medically necessary for you. You must provide accurate, current and complete information at all times when using Truemed's services, and you must not misrepresent your medical condition. If you are not seeking to purchase a product or service that is necessary to cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent a bona fide medical condition or affect the structure or function of your body, you are not eligible to use Truemed's services.

You will be asked to attest that your intended purchase is primarily for the purpose of curing, treating, mitigating, or preventing a medical condition, and that you would not make the purchase but for your medical condition. You must answer honestly. Failing to do so could have adverse tax and benefits consequences.

Truemed's partner merchants and their products

Truemed supports merchants that offer products and services that are under HSA/FSA plans for individuals with certain qualifying medical conditions. Individuals who do not have one or more of the qualifying medical conditions for a given product will not be eligible to use Truemed to purchase that product using HSA/FSA funds. Similarly, Truemed's support for certain of a merchant's products does not mean that all of a merchant's products may be eligible under HSA/FSA plans.

Clinicians and benefits administrators

Many products and services supported by Truemed can be purchased using HSA/FSA funds with a "letter of medical necessity," or "LMN," issued by a licensed clinician. If you qualify to receive a LMN, your LMN represents your provider's opinion, based on the medical history you provided and your attestation, that a product or service is medically necessary for the purpose of treating, preventing, curing, or mitigating the disease(s) which you identify. Each LMN is issued at the sole discretion of the applicable clinician.

Your HSA/FSA plan administrator has some discretion to approve or deny your HSA/FSA claim, even if you provide a LMN, subject to the rules of your HSA/FSA plan. Certain HSA/FSA plans limit or exclude eligibility for certain types of products or services. Check with your HSA/FSA plan administrator if you have specific questions about whether a product or service can be eligible under your plan.

Costs of Truemed's services

If you access Truemed's services through a Truemed partner merchant, in most cases there will be no additional cost to you to use Truemed's services. The cost of Truemed's services are already included in the purchase price you pay for eligible products or services.
